About
Yoga is an ancient Indian body of knowledge that dates back more than 5000 years.
Yoga, simply defined, means to “unite or integrate”. Yoga seeks to find a balanced harmony within one’s self by integrating the mind, the body and the spirit with the universal conscientiousness.
Ancient Yogis formulated a method to achieve this balanced harmony through exercise i.e. postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana). These are the three main Yoga structures common to most all Yoga practices.
Anahata Yoga group lessons emphasize the development of strength, stamina and flexibility through the flowing performance of a series of postures in quick succession creating body heat by physical movement and proper breathing techniques.
Every class is different by varying the postures, the sequence, the flow and the techniques. Anahata brings diversity in the practice by integrating dynamic variations while staying true to ancient yogic disciplines. There is always the challenge of something new and interesting with a playful twist.
Ancient Yogis always taught their students one-on-one. They mentored each individual student from inception to enlightenment beginning with a series of flowing asanas (postures) integrated with proper breathing techniques. In time and by focusing on their breathing, they naturally prepared their mind for the third structure, meditation.
Anahata’s private lessons are about “alignment” and the knowledge of the how and why and the benefit of each posture. The physical adjustment of the pose by the instructor takes the student to a place in mind and body not achievable by class lessons alone. It is, as the ancient Yogis conceived.
Anahata 1on1 Yoga Studio adheres to these ancient ways by offering students private yoga lessons as part of our normal curriculum.
